Welcome to the new iteration of vujachicks.com here on grou.ps! I had mentioned
awhile back on the old forum that Ning was changing their services and wasn't
sure how that would affect us. It turned out that our member number had grown
too large to be able to quality for their entry level hosting package, and I
simply can't afford the other packages. So we have ported over all of our
content to this new site and hope that it will work out well for us!
While the site looks very similar, its not exactly the same, so there will be some growing pains as we learn the new system and integrate the new functions that grou.ps has to offer. Watch for fun new additions to come over the next NBA season!

Game 4 of the 2010 NBA Finals may have been a sad affair for Lakers fans, but there was still reason to celebrate for we Vujachicks. You see, Thursday's game was the also the 2nd Annual Vujachicks NBA Finals Gathering, a friendly little viewing party at the home of Janice O'Brien -- the first fan ever featured on Sasha's official site, and one of the moderators here and on our Facebook Group.
With 3 large TVs all trained on the Lakers VS Boston match in the living room, another in the kitchen, plus a radio tuned to the game in the bathroom, Jan's place just might have more coverage than your average sports bar! And Lakers pride is illustrated everywhere, from team member bobble heads and figurines, to flags and banners, to a larger-than-life replica of last year's gorgeous Lakers Championship Ring, Jan and her husband Pat aren't afraid to show their dedication to the Lakers franchise in their home's decor.
Though Jan loves all the Lakers, her special favorite is (obviously!) Sasha Vujacic - so her autographed #18 tee is proudly displayed in a space all its own. Like Sasha, Jan has an infectiously positive attitude and unfaltering belief in the Lakers' ability to pull through any adversity and win, which makes her a great pal to watch the games with, especially when things are looking grim. Even though we didn't get the "W" that night, the energy was still fairly upbeat at Jan's party, because she was sure the Lakers would ultimately win the finals on their home court. (Which of course they did!)
Helping the overall atmosphere of the party this year were the amazing home made cupcakes brought by one the newer Vujachicks to join the fold, Shelly Niimi. She truly outdid herself by creating 18 cupackes of #18 himself, replete with jerseys and a variety of full color portraits of Sasha's face. We made a game of identifying each photo, which wasn't overly hard to do since we'd seen them all posted here on the forum at one time or another. LOL!
We Vujachicks would like to think that when Sasha stepped up to that free throw line at the 11th hour, so to speak, of Game 7 that he was taking those shots for us, his faithful fans who stood by him and always believed that he could and would make the game winning shot(s) to bring home the trophy for the Lakers and, indeed, all of Los Angeles. Congrats Sasha!
Where are pictures of Sasha from Tuesday night at the ring presentation? Where
is a photo of Sasha's ring? Why does it take so FREAKING long for the website
to add something?? Where are current pictures of Sasha with short hair (other
than the USC day - which was soooooo long ago!)? WHY does it take so long for
comments to be moderated? These are questions that NIwanda is asking tonight.
There are many, many Sasha fans out there who are religious about checking the
official website...and day by day we are disappointed. What gives? What are
your thoughts??? Please....let Niwanda know if she is out of line, but,
seriously...no picture of his ring??? What gives???
It is so strange to visit Sasha's official site and see myself on his homepage -- in two
different sections! It was weird enough to be the featured Question, but now
I'm also in the Fan Spotlight. WOW! What a honor. :D There's been a lot of
little changes to the site in recent weeks, perhaps due to the shift in
management. BTW, congrats to Karen for taking over as Managing Editor! One of
the more obvious changes is that the site Twitter feed is
now an official site account that announces new content on the site. It was my
idea that Emily get Sasha's name on Twitter before a fan (or worse yet, a
hater) grabbed it and it's been fun seeing the posts from Sasha, but I can see
how he may not have the time or inclination to keep "Tweeting" just for our
benefit. I could have sworn that a week or so ago the site had an area for you
to contact them for consideration in the Fan Spotlight, but I don't see it
today... You can still submit a question for Sasha right from the homepage, which
I highly suggest you do! Anyway, it's fun to be a part of his site, even in a
small way. Right now it seems more important than ever to show him our support,
because lord knows there are a lot of haters out there trying to tear him down.

Every one lets hope that the lakers keep sasha vujacic
Hey... I'm a newbie here.. just joined today during the game... My name is
Erin, I'm a newer basketball/Lakers fan... but I'm now and forever a loyal
Vujachick! :) He's amazing on the court... He's a beast out there.. His
nickname, The Machine, really fits him... That game tonight was crazy... two
ejections... I think this is the first time I've ever seen any ejections in a
basketball game, but like I said, I just recently started watching... Am I the
only one who wants to see Battier all bloody again?? He's really starting to
bug me.. Not nearly as much as Artest bugs me... that hair is horrible.. :) I
was so glad to see Kobe do the right thing and walk away from Artest, the
Lakers didn't need to lose him to an ejection... but Artest leaving, that was
quite alright with me... :) Another thing that puzzled me was the "taunting
foul" that Kobe was given... I honestly never knew that was even a foul... I
guess you learn something new everyday... This series just got very
interesting... I can't wait for the next game!! I really hope Fisher is back
for the next game... but it's not looking so good for that.... Fisher shouldn't
have taken things that far, but the hit did look pretty cool... And it was only
on Scola... yet another Rocket that bugs me.. He's a Vujacic wannabe and a
really bad one at that... :) Anyways... Like I said before, I really can't wait
for the next game!! :)
