Welcome to the new iteration of vujachicks.com here on grou.ps! I had mentioned awhile back on the old forum that Ning was changing their services and wasn't sure how that would affect us. It turned out that our member number had grown too large to be able to quality for their entry level hosting package, and I simply can't afford the other packages. So we have ported over all of our content to this new site and hope that it will work out well for us!

While the site looks very similar, its not exactly the same, so there will be some growing pains as we learn the new system and integrate the new functions that grou.ps has to offer. Watch for fun new additions to come over the next NBA season!

Game 4 of the 2010 NBA Finals may have been a sad affair for Lakers fans, but there was still reason to celebrate for we Vujachicks. You see, Thursday's game was the also the 2nd Annual Vujachicks NBA Finals Gathering, a friendly little viewing party at the home of Janice O'Brien -- the first fan ever featured on Sasha's official site, and one of the moderators here and on our Facebook Group.

With 3 large TVs all trained on the Lakers VS Boston match in the living room, another in the kitchen, plus a radio tuned to the game in the bathroom, Jan's place just might have more coverage than your average sports bar! And Lakers pride is illustrated everywhere, from team member bobble heads and figurines, to flags and banners, to a larger-than-life replica of last year's gorgeous Lakers Championship Ring, Jan and her husband Pat aren't afraid to show their dedication to the Lakers franchise in their home's decor.

Though Jan loves all the Lakers, her special favorite is (obviously!) Sasha Vujacic - so her autographed #18 tee is proudly displayed in a space all its own. Like Sasha, Jan has an infectiously positive attitude and unfaltering belief in the Lakers' ability to pull through any adversity and win, which makes her a great pal to watch the games with, especially when things are looking grim. Even though we didn't get the "W" that night, the energy was still fairly upbeat at Jan's party, because she was sure the Lakers would ultimately win the finals on their home court. (Which of course they did!)

Helping the overall atmosphere of the party this year were the amazing home made cupcakes brought by one the newer Vujachicks to join the fold, Shelly Niimi. She truly outdid herself by creating 18 cupackes of #18 himself, replete with jerseys and a variety of full color portraits of Sasha's face. We made a game of identifying each photo, which wasn't overly hard to do since we'd seen them all posted here on the forum at one time or another. LOL!

We Vujachicks would like to think that when Sasha stepped up to that free throw line at the 11th hour, so to speak, of Game 7 that he was taking those shots for us, his faithful fans who stood by him and always believed that he could and would make the game winning shot(s) to bring home the trophy for the Lakers and, indeed, all of Los Angeles. Congrats Sasha!

Once again, forum drama compels me to write a blog post! We weathered the Katie spies, and we've coexisted with various Sasha spies -- we've even butted heads with Radmonovic's girlfriend spies -- but these Maria spies are too much. Our loyal Vujachick, Jennie, had a very personal video - which she was hesitant to share with us here - stolen for use on a Maria thread of a tennis forum AND reposted to YouTube -- totally without her permission. No credit was given to her for shooting the video either -- it was simply swiped by someone who had apparently become a member of this forum for the express purpose of seeing what we were saying about Maria. To make matter worse, Jennie also found what appears to be the Peak sneakers that Sasha donated to that same auction event from the video she filmed FOR SALE ON EBAY!!! The auction is appealing to us Sasha fans and asking $2500 for them. I felt totally soiled looking at the ad... I'm sure Jennie felt much worse. First some stranger is stealing her intimate videos of the event, and then someone is trying to profit from the shoes that were auctioned to raise money at a church event. Perhaps I shouldn't be speaking for her, and I'm sure she'll speak for herself here on the forum, but I just had to get this off my chest. I was so upset that I started banning suspicious members and took the extra precaution of setting the forum to PRIVATE so that all new members must be approved before joining. I never meant to be elitist here, but I would just like to maintain some control over things until it calms down again. Feel free to tell me if I am being paranoid! :P

Well, its happened. Our little Sasha is on TMZ, snapped by paparazzi!!! Granted, he was part of the "Lakers Bday Bash" video story last year, but now he is THE story. Oh My!!! Some of us had worried that stuff like this might happen due to dating a melodramatic Melrose Place actress, but of course, she was small time compared to a big name sports star who's renown for her sexiness as much as her tennis prowess. This whole thing kind of leaves a bad taste in my mouth, I have to admit. I mean, there is nothing inherently wrong about dating sexy actresses and athletes, and I have nothing against either one of those girls whatsoever, but seeing Sash the past few months in all these red carpet photo ops -- and now paparazzi photos... I dunno. It just seems like a slippery slope to John Mayer style doucebaggery. "But you met Sasha at a John Mayer concert!" you're thinking to yourself. Yes, I did. I used to really enjoy JM's music. But the past 2 years, it seems like all he cared about was dating famous women and getting publicity. He didn't have any good new songs come out, and his first single is not a good indicator of the new album. Maybe I'm crazy, but I just feel like this creepy parallel here. Sasha's career has being going downhill steadily, while his PR has been ramping up, as well as his public love life. What gives? Will we ever see that star basketball quality of #18 again? I want "The Machine" back! Go ahead, flame me if you must. I deserve it.
Where are pictures of Sasha from Tuesday night at the ring presentation? Where is a photo of Sasha's ring? Why does it take so FREAKING long for the website to add something?? Where are current pictures of Sasha with short hair (other than the USC day - which was soooooo long ago!)? WHY does it take so long for comments to be moderated? These are questions that NIwanda is asking tonight. There are many, many Sasha fans out there who are religious about checking the official website...and day by day we are disappointed. What gives? What are your thoughts??? Please....let Niwanda know if she is out of line, but, seriously...no picture of his ring??? What gives???

Can you believe it? This sweet young man can really create drama, lemme tell ya! The media just eats it up, too. First all the hub-bub about Phil forcing him to cut his rockstar hairdo - which I hardly think is legal... and now Katie is talking crap on him in TV Guide. WTF? The Internets are a-buzz, to be sure. You have to wonder how much of this will make it to his official site... Already he's done several interviews talking about how cutting his hair was practically his own idea. Yeah, right! But his a good boy and loyal Laker, so of course he is not going to say anything bad about the organization's power trip tactics. What I'm wondering about now is what Phil had in mind when he talked about controlling the team's Twitter and web useage. How will THAT play out with Sasha's official website? OK, perhaps staying off Twitter is a good thing for Sasha, since I read that Katie has an account, too. Can't you just see her posting mean little @sashavujacic quips? Man, I hope Melrose Place doesn't really include an anti-Sasha "joke" in Episode 6, as she suggests they will. That would be in poor taste for an LA based TV show. Especially since Sasha has been getting press recently for being such an LA boy. Well, I don't want to ramp up the rampage any more, just wanted to throw this out there. I am constantly shocked by how mean Lakers fans are online, and how the sports blogs and even sports writers for official news sources are, and now this hair cut is the new excuse to jump all over the poor guy. I don't see what he did to deserve this treatment!!! For more details on some of this, check out the video section and the Katie thread in the forum.

Seriously, people, "can't we all just get along?" Things are getting a little bits nuts around here this summer. As I posted in one of the threads, I know our emotions are all a bit heightened due to the bumpy nature of Sasha's season. From getting less minutes, to making less baskets, injuries during and after the season, girlfriend rumors and paparazzi photos, and now the mystery with being cut from the Slovenian team; Sasha has had some MAJOR drama this year. I truly truly feel for the guy! Let's PLEASE not add to the drama here. Fighting amongst ourselves is no way to handle the stress. I really wish that people wouldn't come to our board to stick up for players girlfriends, but I am not going to sit around and approve everyone or monitor this board as closely as Attention monitors Sasha's official site. What EVERYONE needs to keep in mind is this is just a fan forum, run by fans for fans. That means rumors will fly, opinions will be stated, fantasies will be shared, photos will be uploaded -- that is the entire purpose of this board. If Sasha's people don't like it, if Sasha's friends and family don't like it, if Sasha's girlfriend's people, friends, and family don't like it, if Sasha's friend's girlfriend's people, friends, and family don't like it... Well all I can say is, don't read the forum. This is NOT an official news site, this is just a place for fans to talk to each other outside of that stifling male dominated atmosphere of the normal Lakers fan sites. We all know what I'm talking about, we've been there, done that. I wanted to create a place where we wouldn't get FLAMED for liking Sasha, whether he's on a good streak or a bad streak. So please, let's not flame each other. That's just sad. Let's try to be tolerant of each others little peccadillos and be glad there are no Sasha haters ready to pounce on us. And if someone here does seem to have joined solely for the reason of posting personal information about a a public personality -- Sasha or otherwise -- that can not be verified, send me an email and I will check out them and consider BANNING THEM. We don't need any jokers stinking this place up and causing trouble.
It is so strange to visit Sasha's official site and see myself on his homepage -- in two different sections! It was weird enough to be the featured Question, but now I'm also in the Fan Spotlight. WOW! What a honor. :D There's been a lot of little changes to the site in recent weeks, perhaps due to the shift in management. BTW, congrats to Karen for taking over as Managing Editor! One of the more obvious changes is that the site Twitter feed is now an official site account that announces new content on the site. It was my idea that Emily get Sasha's name on Twitter before a fan (or worse yet, a hater) grabbed it and it's been fun seeing the posts from Sasha, but I can see how he may not have the time or inclination to keep "Tweeting" just for our benefit. I could have sworn that a week or so ago the site had an area for you to contact them for consideration in the Fan Spotlight, but I don't see it today... You can still submit a question for Sasha right from the homepage, which I highly suggest you do! Anyway, it's fun to be a part of his site, even in a small way. Right now it seems more important than ever to show him our support, because lord knows there are a lot of haters out there trying to tear him down. :( Check out the Fan Spotlight on Anji Bee

Every one lets hope that the lakers keep sasha vujacic
Hey... I'm a newbie here.. just joined today during the game... My name is Erin, I'm a newer basketball/Lakers fan... but I'm now and forever a loyal Vujachick! :) He's amazing on the court... He's a beast out there.. His nickname, The Machine, really fits him... That game tonight was crazy... two ejections... I think this is the first time I've ever seen any ejections in a basketball game, but like I said, I just recently started watching... Am I the only one who wants to see Battier all bloody again?? He's really starting to bug me.. Not nearly as much as Artest bugs me... that hair is horrible.. :) I was so glad to see Kobe do the right thing and walk away from Artest, the Lakers didn't need to lose him to an ejection... but Artest leaving, that was quite alright with me... :) Another thing that puzzled me was the "taunting foul" that Kobe was given... I honestly never knew that was even a foul... I guess you learn something new everyday... This series just got very interesting... I can't wait for the next game!! I really hope Fisher is back for the next game... but it's not looking so good for that.... Fisher shouldn't have taken things that far, but the hit did look pretty cool... And it was only on Scola... yet another Rocket that bugs me.. He's a Vujacic wannabe and a really bad one at that... :) Anyways... Like I said before, I really can't wait for the next game!! :)
